What does freedom mean to you?


I’ve yet to meet a business owner who dreams of sitting on a beach for 3 weeks doing nothing.


Most struggle to define what they want, are you one of them?


If so, you’re not alone. When I start working with clients they’re often overwhelmed and struggling to get everything done. But, when I ask them what they want instead, they struggle to think beyond not struggling.


As we work together their idea of success and freedom start to take shape.


Everyone is different but there are a few key things that most have in common.


1. Freedom from the things you don’t want to do. Having to spend time doing things you don’t want to do might be the norm for many people. But, as a business owner, you should have the choice.


2. Freedom from the pressure of meeting other people’s expectations, or the fear of the consequences on everyone if you fail as a business owner.


3. Freedom to spend your time on what is most important to you. Imagine being able to stop doing the things that you don’t enjoy, and fully focus on whatever is most important to you.


4. Freedom to be present, and not distracted by worry, or half-finished jobs. You might want to focus on some key project, enjoy being in the pub with your mates, or spend a day fishing. Imagine being able to switch off completely and enjoy it, knowing the business will be fine.


5. Freedom to be spontaneous. It’s a Thursday afternoon, your friend calls to invite you to hang out, can you go? Or, further down the line, you see your dream holiday on lastminute.com, can you head off to the airport tomorrow for a four-week break, knowing your business can run without you for four weeks?


6. Freedom to do nothing. This desire doesn’t usually last long for business owners, but it can be attractive in the short-term.


You may still choose to work if you enjoy it, I know I do.

What is Coaching and what’s in it for you?


Well, given how often I meet clients who’ve been so disappointed with previous business coaches I’ll start with what it’s not.


  • I’m not going to come as some “expert” with gimmicky one size fits all business templates and expect you to fit into them. This rarely works, and even if it does people often end up running businesses they no longer enjoy.


  • I’m not going to tell you what to do and hold you accountable like some Victorian schoolmaster. Seriously, if you’re in a hole, you might think you need this, but did you really start a business to be somebodies’ lapdog. You’ll be far more successful as we work together and help you develop your ability to motivate yourself to deliver the results that are important to you.


  • I’m not going to insist you buy yourself a library and spend 36 hours a day reading. Sure, knowledge is important and a bit of “just in time” learning is a good thing. But, there are far better ways to develop and apply your knowledge these days. You don’t live in 1850, so why try and learn there.


  • We’re not school kids so I won’t be acting like some “hyped up” cheerleader telling you how great you are. If you want that you can hire someone much better looking than me. As we get you really clear on what you want to do and why, you won’t need the cheesy hype. You’ll be too busy having fun working as you see the cash-flow grow and your free time increase.


  • I won't give you some simplistic "Just put your prices up". That might be an important part of the mix but this type of generic hogwash "just" isn't helpful.


  • I won't keep spouting "quotes" from famous people expecting you to be awed and inspired. Social media is full of this tripe. This is about you and your business, too many people recite this stuff without taking action. Top tip, if anyone does this to you, just ask for some specific examples of how they applied it it their own life recently. Be inspired by actions and results.


So, what will I do?

  • I’ll help you figure out what you really want, why are we even doing this? I’ve been coaching people all over the world since 2003 and I know that if we don’t get this right it’s easy to have you struggle hard climbing the ladder, only to find you’re at the top of the wrong wall. Far too many people work all the hours they have, to buy shit they don't need, to impress people who don't matter. We don't want you living somebody else's idea of a successful life. Let's figure out what you really want.


  • I’ll help you to free up your time so allowing you to focus on what you enjoy and do best. I’ll then help you to tailor your business into one you enjoy running.


  • I’ll help you recruit, train, and retain a great team of people who don’t need more than minimal management. People? Coaches love to say that people are your greatest asset. But employ the wrong people, or put them in the wrong roles, and it’ll be headaches, fights and “handbags at dawn”. There is a easier and better way.


  • Systems will Set You Free. But only if people follow them. Everyone knows at some level that in order to step back from swinging a pick at the coalface you’ll benefit from systems in your business. But too many people over complicate this, producing encyclopaedia like manuals that nobody reads. Seriously, it can be surprisingly easy. I’ll introduce you to an easy quick method of getting your procedures written. A method that people will actually enjoy.


  • Marketing that attracts your ideal clients. Wouldn’t you like to sack those time-wasting customers that suck up your time, like hungry vampires suck blood? What if you could replace them with a steady stream of great customers who come back regularly for more. I’ll help you attract and retain great customers so you reduce the cost of acquiring leads and increase the lifetime value of each customer.


How do we work together?


If we decide to work together on your business then we’ll design how we work together to suit what we’re setting out to achieve.


Typically, we’ll meet once a week three weeks a month. You don’t need to travel to me. We’ll meet once face-to-face at your site and twice virtually either on Skype, Zoom etc. or telephone.


Your time is important, and so is mine. This leverages our time and allows us to get the most out of our time together.
